You may use the MF Tracker Tool to score your MF-related symptoms on a weekly basis. However, you may prefer to score your symptoms more often if you are newly diagnosed or have recently experienced a change in treatment. Talk with your Healthcare Professional about documenting your blood counts and blood transfusions as often as they occur so that you and your Healthcare Professional can start to see any changes over time.
Myelofibrosis is a rare, chronic blood cancer. Healthcare Professionals sometimes call myelofibrosis a bone marrow cancer or blood cancer. Bone marrow is where blood cells are made. People with MF have a defect in their bone marrow that results in an abnormal production of blood cells, causing scar tissue to form.
MF can result from a progression of other bone marrow diseases or it can occur on its own. This is known as primary myelofibrosis.

The MPN10 Symptom Score is a numerical value between 0 and 100 that is calculated by adding up the individual symptom scores you entered into the symptom tracking tool. While a higher Total Symptom Score (TSS) may indicate a more severe symptom burden, this number alone is not a full picture of your overall health. Speak with your Healthcare Professional if you have any questions or concerns about your MPN10 Symptom Score.
A blood transfusion is a common medical procedure that provides a person with donated blood through a narrow tube placed within a vein in the arm. For people with MF, periodic blood transfusions can help increase red blood cell count and reduce certain symptoms that may be related to anemia (low red blood cell count).
